Canberra (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - An unexpectedly large A$39.6 billion (US$36.39 billion) worth of construction work was completed in Australia in the three months to September, boding well for a positive gross domestic product outcome when the national accounts are released next month.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics' construction work report for the September quarter showed total work completed rose by a seasonally-adjusted 2.2 per cent.
The surprise was an unexpected 2.3 per cent increase in non-residential building work given weak business investment earlier this year, while engineering work was up 1.8 per cent.
