Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) has set a target to increase its credit by between 20 and 25 percent in 2010 to meet increasing demand from micro and medium-sized enterprises (UMKM), a BRI executive said.
"Therefore, BRI has the commitment to making the UMKM an encouraging sector for boosting its performance in facing Indonesia`s economic conditions," Financial Director of BRI Sudaryanto Sudargo said here on Wednesday.
He said that BRI this year provided 80 percent for UMKM of its total credit extension while the remaining 20 percent were provided for major corporations.
In 2010 demand for credits is estimated to increase in line with the increasing economic growth, he said.
Sudargo said BRI provided credits in September 2009 worth Rp194.07 trillion, which increased from Rp185.93 last June.
In the meantime, the third party funds up to the end of September totaled Rp221.52 trillion, increasing from Rp217.02 trillion last June.(*)Editor: B Kunto Wibisono
