Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A number of Regional Representatives Council (DPD) members have decided to form an "Anti-Corruption Caucus" and join a mass rally to mark World Anti-Corruption Day on Wednesday (Dec 9) in Jakarta.

"We are forming the Anti-Corruption Caucus in our invidual capacity, so it does not involve the Council as an institution." I Wayan Sudirta, a DPD member representing Bali, said after chairing a meeting to discuss the caucus`s formation at the parliament building in Senayan on Monday.

The DPD in combination with the House of Representatives (DPR) constitute Indonesia`s People`s Consultative Assembly (MPR), the state`s supreme law-making body.

The caucus`s establishment would be formally declared on Wednesday morning (Dec 9) before its members head to the venue of the "Gerakan Indonesia Bersih" (Clean Indonesia Movement) anti-corruption mass rally scheduled to take place at the Monas (National Monument) square beginning at 12:00, I Wayan said.

On Tuesday (Dec 8), the caucus would hold a press conference in the press room of the DPD building about its plan to join the Clean Indonesia Movement rally.

Rahmat Shah, a DPD member representing North Sumatra, said the caucus also wanted to do its part in watching over the ongoing processes to settle the Bank Century case. "We also want to see the case solved thoroughly so that the people will know how made the mistake or is responsible for the scandal. We, DPD members, who represent Indonesia`s regions, also want to see justice done in this regard," he said.

At their meeting on Monday, the DPD members elected the caucus`s executive committee consisting of a chairman, two vice chairpersons, a secretary, two deputy secretaries, a treasurer and two deputy treasurers and several members.(*)
