Malaria sufferers in Pandeglang, Banten increasing

Pandeglang, Banten province (ANTARA News) - The number of people suffering from malaria in Cikeusik subdistrict, Pandeglang district, Banten province, continues to increase and has reached 88 people.
"Two days ago, there were only 40 of them, but now their number reached 88," head of the Pandeglang Health Agency, Iskandar said here Tuesday.
He said the patients had Anopheles mosquito bites after undergoing a microscopic diagnosis plasmodium faciparum test.
In a bid to prevent the spread of the disease, officials from the Pandeglang Public Health Agency were still making efforts like spraying homes with bendiocarb 80 WB insecticides.
In the meantime, the medical personnel distributed 400 mosquito nets to residents in Tanjungan and Kutakarang villages, Cikeusik subdistrict, and providing counselling session with members of the community concerning healthy living.
"They also continued to providing medical treatment to patients, including those still suspected," he added.(*)Editor: B Kunto Wibisono
