Pakistan Remittance Initiative, Pakistan Intl Airlines ink deal

Karachi (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - Pakistan Remittance Initiative (PRI) and
Pakistan International Airlines Tuesday signed a Memorandum
of Understanding to attract overseas Pakistanis to send their remittances
through official channels.
Federal Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs,
Shaukat Tarin, said the strategic alliance between PRI and PIA would help the
government achieve its goal of formalising the remittance market in the
country.
Remittances continued to show a rising trend as
US$$3,832.64 million was received in first five months (July- November)
of fiscal 2009-10, increasing US$866.13 million or 29.20 per cent over
same period of last fiscal year.
