Colombo (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - The Sri Lanka unit of Unilever, a multinational consumer goods group, has started building a 4,000 million rupee (US$35 million) manufacturing plant in an industrial zone in the Horana area, an official said.

"Unilever started their ground breaking ceremony at the 30-acre site Monday," Dhammika Perera, head of Sri Lanka's board of investment (BOI) said.

Unilever has been in the island for 70 years and owns market leading brands in several fast moving consumer goods categories.
