Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A Golkar Party executive denied on Monday a media report that party chairman Aburizal (Ical) Bakrie had agreed with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to replace Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

Quoting anonymous sources, the Jakarta Post daily reported on Monday that Ical, as Aburizal in popularly called, and President Yudhoyono had reached a deal to replace Sri Mulyani and Fiscal Policy Agency head Anggito Abimanyu who was considered to be close to both Ical and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Radjasa, one of the president`s most trusted aides.

Lalu Mara, Golkar Party`s deputy secretary general. speaking for the party`s chairman, also swore that Aburizal had not met President Yudhoyono to discuss a cabinet reshuffle, including Sri Mulyani`s replacment.

"Golkar`s support for the formation of a House special committee to investigate the Bank Century case is by no means an indication that it is seeking to oust a certain minister.

Golker merely wants to help find the truth to make President Yudhoyono`s government even stronger in the storm of gossip," said Lalu Mara acting as Aburizal Bakrie`s spokesman.

He said the media report was misleading because Aburizal was currently focusing on Golkar`s organizational consolidation and during the past week he had been busy visiting Aceh, Medan, and Lampung in efforts to make the party`s consolidation program a success.

Meanwhile, Minister/State Secretary Sudi Silalahi also denied the rumor that President Yudhoyono and Ical had met to discuss a reshuffle of the cabinet.

There was a rumor that the president and Ical had met to discuss a cabinet reshuffle, including the replacement of Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati but Sudi denied it when accompanying President Yudhoyono in a working visit to Madiun, East Java, on Monday.

"President Yudhoyono has the right to meet with any figure but he has not discussed a cabinet reshuffle," Sudi said on the sidelines of a rain-tree planting drive led by the president around the Bening Widas Dam here.
