Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - A reshuffle in the second United Indonesia Cabinet is President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono`s prerogative to decide, former Vice President Jusuf Kalla said here on Saturday.
"It is the president`s prerogative to decide whether or not the cabinet should be reshuffled, so I am not in a position to comment on it," Kalla said at a seminar and workshop on Revitalization of the Muhammadiyah Movement in the Economic Field and in People`s Empowerment at the Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) in Yogyakarta.
Kalla said he did not want to comment too much on or react to a cabinet reshuffle President Yudhoyono may decide to effect.
"I agree with Golkar chairman Aburizal Bakrie that the issue of a cabinet reshuffle is entirely for the president to decide," the former vice president said.
He said Golkar should be ready for the possibility of its cadre in the cabinet being replaced in a cabinet reshuffle.
"I think Golkar is indeed quite ready for whatever happens with its cadre in the cabinet if there is a reshuffle. But this is not the party`s opinion because I am no longer Golkar chairman," Kalla said.
Asked if a cabinet reshuffle was the right thing to do by President Yudhoyono, Kalla refused to comment.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Radjasa had previously said President Yudhoyono had no plan to reshuffle the cabinet.
"So far, the president has never talked about a cabinet reshuffle. I hope the media will stop speculating about this matter," Hatta said.
The issue of a cabinet reshuffle arose soon after the government`s bailout of troubled Bank Century caught public attention.
The case involves Finance Minister Sri Mulyani as former chief of the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK), the institution responsible for issuing the bailout policy.
The cabinet reshuffle issue also emerged due to some people`s disappointment about the government`s performance during its first 100 days in power. They said the various governemnt programs had missied their targets.
