Pontianak, W Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono so far has not yet talked about a plan to reshuffle his Second United Indonesia Cabinet, an associate chairman of the Democratic Party (PD) said.

"The president has not yet talked about a plan to reshuffle his ministers. I have never heard him talking about that," Andi Mallarangeng, who is also the youth and sports affairs minister, said here on Sunday.

Andi made the remarks in response to a discourse on a proposal that President Yudhoyono reshuffle his cabinet ministers.

"Anyone can make a proposal for a reshuffle but it would depend on the president," he said.

DP Secretary General Amir Syamsuddin said he and PD House faction chairman Anas Urbaningrum and PD associate chairman Jafar Hafsah had made the proposal to the president on Thursday (Feb 4).

He said that the proposal was made in connection with PD`s disappointment over the attitude of a number of coalition parties which was not in line with that of the PD with regard to the Bank Century bailout issue.

Andi said that it was the president`s prerogative to replace his ministers. "If the president thinks it necessary, we leave it to him," he added.

In connection with the cabinet shake-up proposal, Chairman of the Islam-based United Development Party (PPP)Suryadharma Ali said his party would let President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to do so if the president thought it was necessary.

"The matter is the president`s prerogative. If the president thought it was necessary, we have to leave it to him because it is his right to do so," the PPP general chairman said here on Sunday.

PPP is one of the political parties in coalition with the Yudhoyono goverment.

The PPP chairman said his party could not interfere. "The president has the right to replace his ministers if he thinks they are incapable to do their job," he said.(*)
