Bangkok (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - Thailand's Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) in January rose to 79.3, its highest in 21 months, according to a survey by the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC).

The Consumer Confidence Index in January stayed high for the third consecutive month due to several positive factors, particularly expectation of the government's economic stimulus measures, an increased minimum wage, extended measures to help low income earners, land owners and diesel oil prices, according to Thanawat Polvichai, director of the UTCC Center for Economic and Business Forecasting.

However, consumers are still concerned about the economy which may become worse owing to political problems, the high cost of living, and court suspension of the Map Ta Phut industrial projects, he said.
