PLN seeking rp9 trillion for transmission funding

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State power utility company PLN is now looking for Rp9 trillion to fund its transmission development program which is part of its first 10,000 megawatt power crash program, a PLN official said.
PLN director for financial affairs Setio Anggoro Dewo said here on Monday that the funds needed by PLN were funding in rupiah so that the state-power firm would seek for it from banks at home.
Dewo made the remarks after the signing of a cooperation agreement with 41 banks and post offices on electricity bills payment.
"We hope that we would be able to obtain the funds this year," he said.
He said the Rp9 trillion was part of the funds needed to develop power transmission in the country`s first accelerated 10,000 MW power project. The total funds for the whole transmission of the first 10,000 MW project was Rp19 trillion.
The government will also carry out its second 10,000 MW power crash program.
He said that for the 10,000 MW project, PLN had spent US$5 billion.
Dewo said that PLN was expected to need a total investment of Rp21 trillion in 2010. Most of the need was in the form of rupiah. (*)Editor: Jafar M Sidik
