Hanoi (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - Around VND44 trillion (US$2.3 billion) will be mobilised to build solid waste treatment plants in Vietnam between now
and 2020, according to the Technical Infrastructure Department under
the Ministry of Construction.
The money will be mobilised
under the form of BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) or BT (Build-Transfer)
from central and local budgets along with soft loans from the Vietnam Development Bank.
The 2010-2020 urban solid waste treatment programme
targets having all localities equipped with solid
waste treatment plants by 2020. By 2015, 85 per cent of the total urban
solid waste volume will be collected and treated under environmental
standards, of which 60 per cent will be recycled, the Department said.
