Jakarta (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - The net profit of Indonesian mining company PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) (JSX:ANTM) shrank 59.17 per cent to Rp559.25 billion US$60 million) in 2009 from Rp1.37 trillion in the previous year.

Falling sales and rising cost of goods sold caused the decline in profit, Antam President Alwin Sjah Loebis said. Loebis said the company reported sales valued at Rp8.69 trillion in 2009 down 9.49 per cent from Rp9.59 trillion in 2008.

Sales fell both in volume and prices, said the company, which produces gold, copper, silver and bauxite.
