Tokyo (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (TSE:7011) announced plans Friday to get into the business of marine windmill production.

The company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the U.K. Department for Business, Innovation and Skills to receive as much as 4.2 billion yen (US$47.2 million), in subsidies for the development of a large offshore windmill, which Mitsubishi Heavy expects to complete by 2013.

Because such windmills can be installed without concerns about noise pollution, their output can be as large as 5,000kw to 7,000kw, more than double the 2,400kw for the firm's land-based windmills. Mitsubishi Heavy will consider building a plant in the U.K. once it secures orders.
