Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Coordinating Minister for Political, Security and Legal Affairs Djoko Suyanto expressed concern over the anarchic actions by demonstrators at the parliament on Tuesday.
"We condemn the actions by some demonstrators in front of the parliament (DPR) building and therefore the police have to act firmly against them in accordance with the law," he said.
He said he could not confirm yet if certain parties were behind the actions. "Let the police investigate it. Now four people are still being questioned at the regional police command," he said.
It was reported earlier that a demonstrator was seized by the police for allegedly provocating stone throwing at the police.
An activist from Petisi 28 who is also a political observer Boni Hargens protested the police for having dragged the demonstrator from Petisi 28 out of the stone throwing area.
"He did not throw a stone at the police. He is one of our friends from Petisi 28," he said.
Boni Hargens and other activists from Petisi 28 got involved in an argument with the police. He maintained that his friend, known as Betor Rohim, was not a provocateur.
"The police said our friend participated in provoking stone throwing," he said.
Boni and his friends later took Beator to a nearby hospital for treatment of some injury.(*)Editor: Heru
