Taipei (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - Sales of Taiwan's manufacturing sector soared 22.68 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2009 to NT$2.897 trillion (US$90.53 billion), marking the first year on year quarterly growth in the past 12 months, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) said Monday.

Thanks to a gradual recovery in consumer
products markets in the U.S. and Europe, Taiwan's sales of electronic parts and components in Q4 topped NT$864.5 billion, a 49.32 per cent year-on-year rise and the first positive growth since the third quarter of 2008.

Of those electronic
parts and components, semiconductors, flat panels and optoelectronic parts and components posted the highest growth, the MOEA said.
