Padang, W Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Marine and Fisheries Minister Fadel Muhammad inaugurated a tuna processing plant at the Bungus ocean fishery saaport on the Teluk Kabung coast here Wednesday.

The minister also inaugurated a fuel station for fishermen and witnessed the unloading of a tuna catch at the seaport.

The tuna processing plant was constructed to support the province`s tuna exporting activity which was expected to double by the end of this year, the minister said.

He said his ministry would also relax and shorten the time of bureaucratic procedures for the issuance of fishing licenses. The licensing procedures would be decentralized to help make Indonesian fishery products more competitive in international markets, especially towards China and several other countries.
