Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono ordered a continuous watch over domestic security conditions on Monday before leaving for a visit to Australia in the evening.

He gave the order at a meeting at the State Palace attended by Vice President Boediono, several cabinet ministers, National Police Chief General Bambang Hendarso Danuri, National Defense Forces Commander General Djoko Santoso and State Intelligence Agency Chief Sutanto.

Coordinating Minister for Political, Security and Legal Affairs Djoko Suyanto said afterwards, the meeting was one the President usually calls before going on an overseas trip.

"The President has called for a continuous watch over security," he said.

He said major security problems like the recent terrorist activity in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam had to be dealt with seriously.

"It is still being investigated. Up to 18 people have been arrested, three others killed and investigations will be continued to trace their linkage with others," he said.

Djoko denied that the activity was connected with the planned visit of US President Barrack Obama to the country on March 20-22, 2010.

National Police Chief General Bambang Hendarso Danuri and National Defense Forces Commander General Djoko Santoso both denied that the military had replaced the police in efforts to find the rest of the terrorist group members.

"Under the current state of civil order it is the police that are in the frontline," Djoko Santoso said.

The TNI (military), he said, would only help with intelligence and transportation.
General Bambang Hendarso rejected opinions which said that there was foreign involvement in the activity in the form of arms supplying to the group.

"No, there is such thing. They are all under our control including the suspected arms suppliers. It is all under our control so there is no problem," he said.

The general however would not as yet tell the origin of the weapons used for training by the terrorist group in Aceh.

"Later we will tell you completely about it. We will tell you when the time comes who they are and that the operations were not done in just one place. Later we will tell you everything," he said.

General Bambang Hendarso Danuri said that the operations were not only done in Sumatra but also in Java.

General Djoko Santoso said the Western Fleet had also conducted a security review in the Malacca Strait but had not yet seen the need to increase its forces there as no significant potential security disruption had been detected.

Regarding the upcoming visit of US President Barrack Obama the general said that the TNI had already prepared themselves and conducted various exercises.

"The TNI is certainly being readied. It is always ready," he said.(*)
