Seoul (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - LG Chem Ltd.  (KSE:051910), South Korea's leading producer of chemicals, said today it will build a 2 trillion won (US$1.8 billion) plant for materials used in liquid crystal display (LCD) panels in the central part of the country.

"LG Chem and the North Chungcheong provincial government initialed earlier in the day a deal to build the plant in Ochang," located 95 kilometers south of Seoul, said Sung Hwan-doo, a spokesman for LG Chem.

Sung said, however, that the company has yet to come up with details on the project, including a time-frame.
