Pakistani embassy holding art exhibition

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Pakistani Embassy in Jakarta in cooperation with the Ciputat Gallery opened a week-long Indonesia-Pakistan art exhibition on Tuesday.
The art exhibition which is taking place at the Pakistani embassy until March 22 displays tens of paintings carrying different themes.
The paintings are the works of Indonesian painters such as Saman, Budi, Irasam, Luthfi, Hidayat Ambo, Koempoel, Fardolli Fadli Very Apriyatno, H. Ling, Iwan Suhaya and Sania Gilang Hati as well as Pakistani painter Ayesha M. Khan.
"This exhibition has a positive impact on Indonesia-Pakistan relations," Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo said in his opening address.
The governor said noted Pakistani painter Ayesha M. Khan`s participation in the exhibition could help promote Indonesian culture through her paintings.
Pakistani Ambassador to Indonesia Sanaullah in his address said the exhibition was a humble attempt to weave a new dimension in the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Indonesia and the culturally robust relations in the ASEAN region.
"We will soon be introducing Pakistan`s diverse culture, enriched by centuries of old pagan, Gandhara, Buddhist and Islamic civilizations to Jakarta, a leading center of art in the region." he said.
In this context, he said he intended to make an offer to the ambassadors of ASEAN member states through the ASEAN Secretariat for a joint show of photographs and a food festival.(*)Editor: B Kunto Wibisono
