Police seize terror suspect weapons

Banda Aceh (ANTARA News) - Lhokseumawe police Tuesday evening seized four long and short-barrel guns and more than 1,000 bullets believed to have belonged to terrorists at two separate locations in Aceh Province.
The weapons were found following a tipoff from a member of a terror suspect who had surrendered to local police, Senior Commissioner Farid AS, spokesman of the Aceh Police, said here on Wednesday.
Muchtar (25), former secretary of `Dayah Mujahiddin` at Blang Mangat village, who was on the police`s wanted person list, gave himself up to Lhokseumawe Police office on Tuesday evening.
Three Colt revolvers and one M-16 gun as well as 1,064 bullets were later found in Paya Bakong and Blang Cruem areas, Lhokseumawe.
Aceh police supported by members of anti-terror special detachment (Densus) 88 have been pursuing suspected terrorists in Indonesia`s most-western province over the past few weeks.
The Police have estimated that around 14 suspected terrorists are still hiding in the province having population of around 4.6 million.
Of the 14 wanted terror suspects, three were Acehnese while six of those who had been killed during police operations so far were also Acehnese.
National Police Chief General Bambang Hendarso Danuri recently said the police had so far arrested 38 suspected terrorists including those nabbed in Jakarta and seven of them had been killed during operations.(*)
