Surabaya, E Java,  (ANTARA News) - Education Minister Mohammad Nuh called on school students and their parents here on Saturday not to trust leaked national examination materials.

"Do not trust leaked materials as rumors about it are merely spread for seeking profit," he said after inspecting the preparation of distribution of examination materials at some police stations here on Saturday ahead of the nation-wide exam on Monday.

The minister said those who are busy looking for leaked copies of the materials would only suffer losses namely a loss in time for studying, a loss in money for buying the materials and a loss of confidence.

"So they will only suffer losses as control would be tightened. Meanwhile those who fail will still be able to take a repeat exam which is not available last year," he said.

The minister said the government had been ready to conduct the national exam which would be participated in by 6,058,696 senior and junior high school students across the country.

He said the national exam costs about Rp0.5 billion for around 10 million participants including from elementary schools or Rp50,000 per student.

The minister said he had already checked three points vulnarable to materials leakage namely the multiplication of materials at printing houses, distribution of materials to regions and distribution of answer copies.

"Multiplication has been done according to the standard operating procedures," he said.

Distribution has also reached police sector levels assuring that they will be ready in time for the exam, he said.

The minister said that the exam would not only be important for measuring quality but also for mapping regions that need improvement in the lessons including for the exam.(*)
