Jakarta (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale rocked the Indonesian province of Bengkulu on Monday.

The epicenter was located at 3.53 degrees northern latitude and 102.15 degrees eastern longitude at a depth of 49 kilometers.

According to Jakarta`s meteorology and geophysics office, the earthquake has no potential to trigger a tsunami.

Its epicenter was 11 kilometers from East Lais, North Bengkulu regency, 597 kilometers from the capital city, Jakarta.

A decade ago, Bengkulu Province was rocked by strong earthquakes measuring 7.3 and 7.9 on the Richter scale, killing a number of people and damaging several thousands of houses.
