Melbourne (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - Rio Tinto Ltd's (ASX:RIO) chief executive Tom
Albanese says he is respectfully awaiting the outcome of China's legal
process as a trial begins of four of the global miner's employees.
Mr
Albanese, speaking in Beijing on the same day the
four, including Australian man Stern Hu begin trial in China for
bribery and trade secrets charges, said the issue was of "great concern
to us". "I can only say we respectfully await the outcome of the
Chinese legal process," Mr Albanese told the China Development
Forum.
Mr Albanese said the recent announcement that Rio Tinto would
work with Aluminum Corporation of China (Chinalco) (SEHK:2600;
SSE:601600) to develop the massive Simandou iron ore project in West
Africa showed the company was working to resolve problems
with China.
