Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves  reached more than US$77 billion in the year ended April 29, acting Bank Indonesia (central bank) Governor Darmin Nasution said.

"As per Thursday (April 29) our foreign exchange reserves amount to slightly above US$77 billion," Darmin said after Friday prayers.

He noted that rising capital inflows were responsible for the steady increase in the reserves.

Compared to two weeks ago, the foreign exchange reserves rose about   US$2 billion, he said.

The increased capital inflows also had had an impact on the rupiah's appreciation against the US dollar, he said.

"The rupiah is trading at around  Rp9,000 per dollar," he said.

The central bank would make every possible effort to maintain the local unit at the level of Rp9,000 per dollar so it would be acceptable to all parties, he said.(*)
