Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - The US embassy in Jakarta starting in June this year will be specially handling visas for businesses and students under the Business Visa Program (BVP) and Student Visa Program (SVP) on every Monday from 7.30 am to 9.30 am local time.

The US embassy said Tuesday that visitors on business are required to bring a valid BVP registration letter, while student applicants need to bring an equally valid I-20 form from the universities or colleges for two or three years study in the US.

If they wished to settle these matters on other days they need to make arrangements through the websites http://jakarta.usembassy.gov/consular/c_howtoapply.html; or by normal means.

The US State Department will also pay the cost of non-immigrant visas to cover the non-immigrant visa processing cost throughout the world, as the processing cost of certain categories in the making of non-immigrant visas has increased.

With the new cost, applicants for regular visas like tourist and B1/B2 business visas, as well as student exchange visit visas, namely F, M, and J visas, will have to pay 140 US dollars.

Visa applicants under the category of petition or special visas will have to pay 150 US dollars. These types of visas include H visas for temporary workers in training and L visas for employees who have been internally transferred to the US.

There are also O visas for foreigners with extraordinary capabilities, P visas for athletes, artists, and people in the entertainment business, Q visas for international cultural exchange participants, and R visas for religious people.

K visas for people engaged to Americans will have to pay 350 US dollars while the cost for E visas for investment in the US amounts to 390 US dollars.

The US State Department has been asked to cover this processing cost by imposing visa registration cost, which as of Jan 1, 2008 amounted to 131 US dollars which is no longer enough to cover the making of non-immigrant visas.(*)
