Jakarta (ANTARA News) - House Commission I has strongly criticized the operation of Indonesian military aircraft, following the crash of a military trainer at Denpasar`s air base on Thursday.
"The incident needs to be asked to Indonesia`s military authorities, especially the air force. What is the purpose of the military authorities like territoral military commanders (pangdam) and governors using training aircraft," deputy House Commission I deputy chairman Tubagus Hasanuddin said in Jakarta Thursday night.
Besides, he added, whoever had authorized the use of the trainer aircraft must be held responsible, because it has surpassed its authority.
It had been earlier reported from Denpasar that an airforce trainer, the Korean built KT1 `Woong Bee` (two crew members), went down.
Both the pilot and crewman (Udayana Pangdam) saved themselves by bailing out.
"A trainer plane was supposed to be used for training purposes, not for any other purposes," Tubagus Hasanuddin of the PDI faction said.
In the meantime, his friend of the Golkar faction Paskalis Kossay said the incident was a very big regret.
"It is strange that a training aircraft was used by military officials. This is proof of a very bad mentality," Paskalis Kossay pointed out when on a visit to Belgium. (*)Editor: B Kunto Wibisono
