Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Search efforts for a trike aircraft that is believed to have crashed in a mountain area in Bandung district on Sunday (July 4), continued on Tuesday by combing around Mount Wayang/Sentosa area, Pengalengan, Bandung.

"The search efforts are being carried out through land and air," a source told ANTARA at Sulaeman airbase, Bandung, West Java, Tuesday.

The area to be searched will also be extended until Garut (West Java) given the fact that a local search and rescue (SAR) team had received a mobile cellular signal from one of the Trike PKS 135 crew.

A Susi Air`s Colibri plane and three Indonesian Aero Sports Federation (FASI)`s Trike aircraft have been deployed to help find the missing aircraft.

A trike aircraft piloted by Noto and Panji crashed and went missing around Mt. Wayang/Sentora in Bandung district, West Java Province, on Sunday (7/4).

The accident occurred on the ill-fated aircraft`s flight from Nusawiru, Pangandaran, to Sulaiman air in Bandung district. The crash was known after ground people lost contact with those on board.

In Indonesia, trikes are usually used by aerosport modeling and design enthusiasts.
ANTARA News learned here Monday that a group of the army and air force rescue workers had been deployed to the likely crash site.

Pangalengan police chief Adjunct Commissioner Dadang said he had received the first reports of the crash from his men and some people who witnessed the trike shortly before crashing to the ground.

The trike aircraft might have crashed at about 02.00 pm local time in the Wayang or Swantosa mountain areas.

"Some local residents heard the sound of the trike above the mountain area before crashing to the ground," he said.

Another trike aircraft with two people on board had safely landed at Sulaiman airstrip, he said.(*)
