Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA News) - Bali customs officers have arrested a Philippine woman who tried to smuggle in 2.5 kilograms of heroin worth Rp7.2 billion through Ngurah Rai international airport.
"The woman was carrying a large bag in a suspicious way. She looked nervous when customs officers put her luggage through the x-ray detector machine. And when the officers took a closer look at the contents of her bag, they found a pack of heroin," Bambang Wahyudi, chief of the Bali customs and excises office, said here on Tuesday.
The woman admitted she got the heroin in Malaysia, he said.
"She met an Indian man in Malaysia who paid her 1,000 US Dollars to take the drug to Indonesia via Bali," said Bambang.
The woman would be charged based on articles in Law Number 35/2009 about drugs carrying a maximum penalty of death.(*)Editor: Heru
