Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked the presidential working unit for development supervision and control (UKP4) to help supervise tax reforms.

The President has asked the UKP4 to help monitor the implementation of the three presidential instructions on tax reforms, under a Presidential directive to the taxation directorate general and the customs duties directorate general issued at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta Wednesday.

The President has earlier issued three special instructions to the taxation directorate general following several cases of tax offences by tax officials which had ruined the good name of the government institution.

The three instructions are firstly, the President asked the taxation directorate general to stop all kinds of crime and deviations waiting for the completion of the reforms.
Secondly, the President ordered taxation directorate general personnel to continue carrying out reforms and raise tax revenue.

Thirdly, the President also issued similar instruction to Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo.

The President was on the occasion in the company of Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa, Minister/State Secretary Sudi Silalahi, Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu, Industry Minister MS Hidayat, Transportation Minister Freddy Numberi, Attorney General Hendarwan Supanji, and UKP4 chief UKP4 Kuntoro Mangkusubroto.
