Beijing (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - China's online search engine market size topped 2.67 billion yuan (US$394 million) in the second quarter of this year, rising 37 per cent from the previous quarter and 48 per cent year on year, according to Analysys International.

China-based leading online search engine firm Baidu and international search engine giant Google, maintained the leading position in China's search engine market, while the former's market share exceeded 70 per cent for the first time.

Baidu's advertising system drove up the average revenue per user of advertisers considerably, and the uncertainty over Google's future brought an opportunity for Baidu to expand market share.

Search engine firms such as Sogou and Soso won market share when Google was in trouble, and worked hard to connect their sales teams with agents, but it will take time for them to make real inroads.
