Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian police`s anti-terror unit Densus 88 is hunting a French national who is the owner of a car terrorists planned to use in a bombing attack.
"We are still pursuing the car`s owner. We already know the initials of the French national`s name," the head of National Police Headquarters` public relations division, Inspector General Edward Aritonang, said here on Monday.
He made the statement at a press conference held in connection with the arrest of Muslim cleric Abu Bakar Baasyir in Ciamis, West Java, on Monday morning.
Edward said the French national proved to be the owner of the sedan terrorists intended to use in a bombing attack on a certain target in Jakarta.
He said the man had a Moroccan wife and was also believed to have supplied money to finance the bombing plan.
Edward said the police had confiscated the car with license number B-1600-KE during a raid in Cikuda, Cibiru, Bandung, West Java.
He said the National Police had already coordinated with Interpol to find the man believed to be involved in a terrorist network in Indonesia.
The police had also confiscated chemical materials for making bombs and arrested alleged terrorist network member Fakrulroji alias Bayu, on Saturday (August 7).
Densus 88 had also discovered a house used as a bomb-making laboratory in Cikuda, Cibiru, West Jzva, and arreseted a chemical engineer who is also a bomb-making expert, Kurnia Widodo, in Padalarang, West Java, on the same day.
The police later arrested cleric Kiki and documents on jihad as well as chemical materials from him in Cileunyi, West Java.
Other alleged terrorist network member arrested by the police was Gopur. From him the police confiscated 54 rounds of ammunition, nitrate fluid, urea fertilizer, a chemical tube in Subang, West Java.
The police believe the arrested terror suspects had the capability to make high-magnitude bombs using chemical materials.
"The network once tested a bomb of its own making on a hill in Sumedang, West Java," Edward said.
The terrorist network had planned to attack various targets such as foreign embassies, international hotels in Jakarta, the police headquarters and also President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Until now Densus 88 had already arrested 102 alleged terrorist network members involved in training in Aceh Besar and 66 of them are currently in detention.
"The cases of the 66 suspects are detailed in 33 dossiers and they will immediately be submitted to courts in Jakarta," Edward said.(*)Editor: Jafar M Sidik
