Banyumas, C Java (ANTARA News) - Landslide disaster response management was considered very poor in coordination, and disappointed local communities, a spokesman said.
According to Mount Selamet Care Community Coordinator (Kompleet) Sungging Septivianto, he was upset by the uncoordinated rescue efforts for the landslide that occurred on Monday (30/8) in Kemawi hamlet, Somagede sub-district, Banyumas district.
Sungging said that there are also some rescue personnel that do not master evacuation techniques by simply suggesting using a fire truck to reach the site.
"Even a car is impossible to pass these heavy terrains and get to the site," he said.
Besides Sungging, some other paramedic officers also mentioned the uncoordinated victim search process.
The disaster that occurred at 11.00 pm Monday night buried two houses belonging to Daslam and Martaja Nadar, while five of the house members were found dead and one died on the way to the hospital.
Victims who died on the first day of search (31/8) namely Kaminah (Daslam`s wife), Ani (Martaja`s daughter), and Ayu Diyanti (Ani`s 50 days old daughter) and Martaja Nadar, while Yanto (Ani`s husband) died on the way to Banyumas District General Hospital.
Search effort on the third day finally found Dimen (Martaja`s wife) with her left foot missing by the joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team.
"By the discovery of Dimen`s body (45) at 11:00 am, it means that all landslide victims had been found," said Coordinator of the SAR "Serayu" Banyumas district, Jatmiko, in the disaster area, Thursday.
Luckily for Daslam and his three children namely Karman, Karti and Yanti survived the tragedy although Yanti has to undergo medical treatment at Banyumas district`s General Hospital. (*)
