Hanoi (ANTARA News/VNS-OANA) - National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong and his entourage arrived in Ottawa, Canada, yesterday to attend a meeting of parliamentary speakers from the G20 countries.
The visit was made at the invitation of the Speaker of the Canadian Senate, Noel A. Kinsella.
The meeting would focus on issues related to the global economic crisis and recovery, including cooperation in food production and distribution, new models of peace and security, and economic and financial models that could foster global economic stability, said chairman of the National Assembly`s External Relations Committee Nguyen Van Son.
It would also be a chance for Vietnam, as current chair of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, to boost relations with Canada and other countries, he said.
