Indonesia participating in Slovenia`s Calje Trade Fair

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia is participating in an international trade fair in Celje, Slovenia, on September 8 - 15, according to the Indonesian embassy in Vienna, Austria.
It is the first time for Indonesia to participate in the Celje fair, Indonesian Ambassador to Austria and Slovenia I Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja said in a press statement received here Wednesday.
The Celje fair is Slovenia`s biggest trade fair and one of the most important events of its kind in Europe.
By promoting its products at the fair Indonesia was expected to gain excess to central and east European markets, I Gusti said.
On the sidelines of the fair, the Indonesian embassy would organize a meeting themed "Indonesia an Emerging Player in the Global Economy" with businesspersons in Slovenia.
The embassy would also hold cultural event where traditional Indonesian dances such as Ratang Renggong Manis and Piring would be performed, he said.
The fair, to be opened by Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Pathor, would be participated in by many countries and companies and was expected to attract 100,000 to 170,000 visitors.
Other countries takig part in the fair were Australia, Croatia, Slovakia, India, Italy and Serbia.
The fair would display various products and innovations and also offer opportunities for establishing international business contacts or making business deals and transactions.
Economic cooperation between Indonesia and Slovenia has yet to develop to mutually satisfactory level, I Gusti said.
According to available data, Indonesia-Slovenia trade in the January-September period of 2009 reached a value of 83.068 million US dollars.
During the period, Slovenian exports to Indonesia totaled 16.116 million dollars and Indonesian exports to Slovenia 66.963 million dollars.
Indonesian exports to Slovenia consisted of mainly of minerals, wood, latex, and paper. (*)Editor: Bambang
