Islamabad (ANTARA News/AKI) - A suspected US missile strike on Wednesday killed at least six `militants` in northwestern Pakistan near the Afghan border, according to report by DawnNews, citing unnamed intelligence officials.
The officials said the drone strike targeted a house in the village of Dande Darpa Khel in the North Waziristan tribal area.
The area targeted by the strike is a stronghold of Hafiz Gul Bahadur, a militant leader who concentrates his attacks against US-led NATO troops across the western border in Afghanistan.
The US declines to publicly claim responsibility for drone missile strikes in Pakistan, but officials have said privately that they have killed several senior Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants.
America`s use of unmanned aircraft in Pakistan is publically called a violation of sovereignty by the country`s government and military officials. Reports say their reaction is for local consumption and in private support such strikes.
