Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said no officer is allowed to criticize his superior in the military as well as national organization.
At a fast breaking gathering with mass media leaders at the presidential palace here on Wednesday he said the rule is clearly stated in the officers` code of ethics as well as in the Law on the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI).
"Actually there is no room for (an officer) to criticize his organic superior in the military as well as in national organizations," he said.
He admitted he had heard reports from TNI commander General Djoko Santoso or the airforce chief of staff Marshal Imam Sufa`at about Colonel Adji Suradji who recently wrote an article in Kompas Daily criticizing President Yudhoyono as have no courage to make a change.
The President said he fully referred the case to the TNI, the Air Force and the ministry of defense with regard to the Adjie case.
"What I want to convey is something more fundamental with regard to statehood and nationhood," he said.
He said since reform began TNI had also been reformed by separating it from practical politics.
So, although democracy in Indonesia has grown no precedent must be allowed that would disrupt the reform process including the separation of TNI from practical politics.
"So no precedent must be allowed that would disrupt reform that has developed so far," he said.
He said any action of involving TNI in the practical political activities must certainly be prevented in line with the existing regulation in the TNI. (*)Editor: Heru
