Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro said on Wednesday the Indonesian military (TNI) remained solid and had no problem with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono as the country`s commander-in-chief.

"The statement made by Col. Pnb Adjie Suradji is purely his own opinion, and not on behalf of the TNI. There is no friction in the TNI," he said.

Purnomo said TNI chief Gen. Djoko Santoso had informed him about the identity and status of Col. Pnb Adjie Suradji who wrote in the opinion column of a national daily on Sept 6 criticizing President Yudhoyono`s leadership.

"I give the assurance that the TNI remains solid. There is no friction in the TNI with regard to Adji Suradji`s opinion carried in the media. I have checked the matter with the TNI chief," he said.

As a matter of fact, Adji had problem with the TNI for a long time, he said.

The TNI could not tolerate what Col. Adjie Suradji had done, Purnomo said adding as an institution, the TNI had adopted rules and norms to which any of its personnel must adhere.

"If any of its personnel is to express their opinion, or views they must adhere to the existing rules and channels," he said.(*)
