Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Golkar Party Vice Chairman Agung Laksono said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono should evaluate the performance of his ministers.
"I think an evaluation should be done every year like during the tenure of the first United Indonesia cabinet. It is normal for cabinet members` performance to be assessed," he said here on Thursday.
But Golkar and he himself did not want to interfere in the matter, he said.
"We cannot interfere. It is his (the President`s) right. An evaluation is necessary but it is the president who has the right to name, recruit and replace (ministers)," he said.
Agung who is now the coordinating minister for people`s welfare said Golkar was ready any time for a presidential evaluation of the performance of ministers from Golkar, including himself.
"Well, we know the principles and so there is no need to intefere in it. Golkar is always ready even if it has to see its members being replaced," he said.
The deputy secretary general of the ruling Democrat Party, Saan Mustopa, meanwhile said that reports from the President`s Working Unit for Development, Supervision and Control (UKP4) would be used as the basis for the President`s evaluation.
"With regard to an evaluation and cabinet reshuffle it would be up to the President who certainly would use the UKP4 report as a reference," he said.
"Ministers who did not perform well have been given an opportunity to improve their performance. Now their performance may have improved," he said.
When asked if Law Minister Patrialis Akbar, Communications Minister Tifatul Sembiring and Public Works Minister Joko Kirmanto would be among those to be replaced, Saan declined to comment.
