Sintang, W Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Member of Commission V of the House of Representatives from Sintang regency Lasarus said the escalation of the relations between Indonesia and Malaysia had prompted the government to be serious again in solving the border problems.

"Under the 2011 State Budget increasing border infrastructure is one of top priority in the government discussions," Lasarus said in Sintang Thursday.

He said the increased tension in relations between the two countries following the incident between the two neighboring countries was a good momentum for a clarification of the existing situation in the border region.

He added at a hearing with the Public Works Minister or Transportation Minister, the bad condition in the border regions had always been touched.

The government needs to become more serious in handling the development of the border region, he said.

He said that in discussions on the budget held by the government, as of next year the border region must be developed more seriously, especially the northern main road stretching from West Kalimantan to East Kalimantan along the border region.(*)
