Karawan, West Java (ANTARA News) - As many as 42,822 prisoners across the country have this year`s Idul Fitri special remission.

"Of the 42,823 prisoners and detainees, 1,415 walk free," Justice and Human Rights Ministry spokesman Rachamt Prio Sutardjo said at Karang Class IIA correctional institution in West Java on Friday.

On the occasion he explained that there were at present 131,934 prisoners and detainees all over Indonesia.

Of all, 82,123 are prisoners and and 49,811 are detainees, while 42,823 of whom got first special remission and 1,415 others got second special remission or directly walked free.

The prisoners who got second special remission were were made up of 604 with 15 days of remission, 744 with one month of remission, 53 with one month and 15 days of remission, and 14 with two months of remission.

While those who got first special remission were made up of 13,697 with 15 days of remission, 23,595 with one month of remission, 3,323 with one month and 15 days of remission, and 793 with two months of remission.

Meanwhile, Justice and Human Rights Ministry`s Director General for Correctional Institution Untung Sugiyono said around 50 percent of prisoners and detainees across the country in Idul Fitri this year had their sentences cut.
