President to receive "Order of The Dutch Lion" award

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to leave for the Netherlands on Monday where he will among other things receive an Order of the Dutch Lion award from the Dutch government.
"The Indonesian president will receive an Order of the Dutch Lion honor from Queen Beatrix," presidential staff for foreign affaris Teuku Faizasyah said here on Monday.
The award will be handed over by the queen when receiving President Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono at a state reception and dinner at the queen`s private residence at the Noordeinde Palace on Wednesday, he said.
The "Order of the Dutch Lion" is an honor created by King William I on September 29, 1815 and given to noted figures from various fields including ministers, generals, mayors and art workers.
The order is given in various categories, namely "the Knight Grand Cross" for royal family members, heads of state, princes, cardinals and the "Knight Commander" which is for outstanding workers, Dutch Nobel laureates and politicians and the "Knight".
Several figures that have received the Order of the Dutch Lion so far include former UN secretary general Kofi Annan, first Yugoslan president Broz Tito, late British prime minister Winston Churchil and former German chancellor Helmut Kohl.
Besides the Order of the Dutch Lion President Yudhoyono will also receive s "Willem Van Oranje" medal . "He will receive the Willen Van Oranje medal at Leiden University," he said.
Willem Van Oranje was one of the Dutch leaders in the war against Spain in the 1500s.
"The Indonesian President will deliver a speech at Leiden University before noted academics of the universtiy, high-ranking government officials and Dutch community figures," he said.
Faiza said President Yudhoyono would also witness the signing of a cooperation agreement between the university and Indonesia`s Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB) while it Leiden.
"President Yudhoyono will give a lecture on `Knowledge and Technology: Indonesia-Netherlands Cooperation in a Changing Global Environment`," he said.
He would also hold an interactive discussion with 75 Indonesian students of Wageningen University and their mentors, Faiza said.
President Yudhoyono will be effectively in the Netherlands for three days until October 9, Faiza said.
