President inaugurates infrastructure projects in S Sulawesi

Makassar, S Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Tuesday inaugurated a number of infrastructure projects in South Sulawesi province intended to spur the local economy and give the greatest possible benefit to the community.
"We hope these projects will speed up and increase development and encourage investment," he said.
The President asked all relevant parties to maintain the infrastructure projects properly.
The newly-inaugurated projects include the Andi Mattalata ferry port worth Rp32 billion in Garongkong, Barru district, the Pamatata seaport worth Rp54 billion and the Lagaligo airport worth Rp54 billion in Luwu district.
The others were facilities worth Rp548 billion at Sultan Hasanuddin international airport in Makassar.
In another part of his address, the head of state asked the private sector to work closely with the government in building other infrastructure facilities needed by the community.
He also asked Transport Minister Freddy Numberi to make sure that all transportation facilities including airports and seaports were operated properly by prioritizing passengers` safety to prevent a recurrence of bad happenings.
The President and entourage including First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, Transport Minister Freddy Numberi, and Youths and Sports Minister Andi Mallarangeng are scheduled to return to Jakarta at 02.30 western Indonesian time.(*)
