UNIFIL expresses deep sympathy to Indonesia

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A number of military contingents under the United Nations peace-keeping forces in Southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) have expressed deep sympathy and condolences on the disasters in Indonesia.
Head of the Indonesian contingent Garuda XXIII-D Lt Col Andi Perdana Kahar said in a release received by ANTARA Monday that the military contingents were from Bangladesh, Belgium, Brunei Darussalam, China, Kroatia, Syprus, Denmark, El-Salvador, France, FYROM, Germany, Ghana, Greece, and Guatemala.
"The news on the natural disasters in various parts of Indonesia have moved the hearts of members of the Indonesian contingent in Lebanon, and those of many other countries," Andi said.
He said 1,426 Indonesian soldiers are serving the United Nations peace-keeping forces in Southern Lebanon.
Earlier, members of the Indonesian contingent conduct joint prayers for the safety of the Indonesian people and state.
A great many people had perished in natural disasters in Indonesia including the flash floods in Wasior, Papua, tsunami in Mentawai islands, West Sumatra, and the eruption of Mt Merapi in Central Java.(*)Editor: Aditia Maruli
