Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhyono attended a national Christmas celebration at the Jakarta Convention Center`s Plenary Hall here on Monday.

The event themed "The True Light is Coming to the World" was opened at 7.30am and would also present a stage play titled "Indonesia, The Kampong of Love" depicting the tolerance among various religious followers and ethnic groups in the country.

The national celebration held by a committee chaired by Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu was also to be lustred up with performances by noted singers such as Harvey Malaiholo, Agnes Monica and Rafika Duri.

In the runup to Monday evening`s celebration, the commitee had visited several places in the country that had been hit by natural disasters recently such as Mentawai islands in Sumatra, Yogyakarta and Wasior in Papua to extend more than Rp3 billion in aid and rehabilitate damaged church buildings.
