Bandarlampung, Lampung (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 5.3 on Richter scale hit North Sulawesi at 8.45 a.m local time Wednesday.

According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) the epicenter of the earthquake lies 3.63 degrees Northern Latitude and 126.84 degrees Eastern Longitude at a depth of 24 km.

The epicenter of the quake is located 135 km Southeast of Melonguane, North Sulawesi; 152 km East of Tahuna Sea, North Sulawesi; 303 km Northeast of Bitung Sea, North Sulawesi; 322 km Northwest of Ternate Sea; and 2.475 Northeast of Jakarta.

The earthquake has no tsunami potential.
