"The Saudi court`s verdict of three years in prison for the employer of migrant worker Sumiati for torturing is unfair," Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa said here Wednesday after a meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
"We all can feel that three years in this case does not jibe with our sense of justice. Therefore, we will work for an appeal through our lawyer. Even the Saudi public prosecutor is to apeal," Marty said here Wednesday.
Marty said the Indonesian consulate general in Jeddah had been taking legal action over the torture experienced by Sumiati, an Indonesian migrant worker in Saudi Arabia, since the case became known.
"The first thing we were concerned about was the health condition of Sumiati, Fortunately she has now been released from hospital and she is now staying at the Indonesian consulate general," Marty said.
