Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - The weather in Makassar also changed substantially and it uninterruptedly rained in the city for 10 long hours on Wednesday.

It rained continuously from 5 am coupled with heavy rain and strong winds until 3 pm.
Consequently, many parts of Makassar were inundated disrupting normal daily activities in the city which has a population of 1.2 million.

In the densely populated residential area along Jalan Mamoa Raya, for instance, inundation reached 50 centimeters high making it difficult for students of the Makassar University to go to their campus in Parang Tambung, and the Alauddin Islamic University campus.

Likewise Jalan Recing Centre in front of the South Sulawesi Governor`s office is also submerged 30 cm deep forcing motorists to avoid the 100-m long inundation.

The Makassar Metereology and Geophysics Agency (BMG) predicted that Makassar and surroundings will have rain in January coupled with strong winds in the afternoon and night.
