With the ruling the court upheld the earlier decision of the Denpasar district court to sentence him to life imprisonment, ANTARA learned from the court`s official website here on Thursday.
The ruling was made on Thursday by three MA judges namely Komariah Emong Sapardjaja, Surya Jaya and Djoko Sarwoko as the presiding judge. All the three judges rejected the request.
Martin in his request presented new evidence to show that he was not a main actor in the narcotic smuggling by the Bali Nine members.
The evidence had been collected based on the Australian Federal Police`s (AFP) statement that Martin`s role in the heroin smuggling to Bali from Australia was small.
The AFP said it saw no indication that Martin knew well about the smuggling. It also stated it did not have information showing that Martin had been involved in earlier smuggling activities. (*)
