Musi Rawas (ANTARA News) - Three Chinese investors visited an iron ore mine in Musi Rawas regency, South Sumatra, and planned to invest in the area.


"The three Chinese investors with a plan to invest in Musi Rawas are Li Maguo, Zhang Rongai, and Ding Ming Feng and are in the company of businesspeople from Jakarta Bambang Riyadi Soegama and Ginawati A," chief spokesman for Musi Rawas regency administration Kgs Effendi Ferry, on Wednesday.


The Chinese investors and the local businesspeople from Jakarta were making an inspection of the iron ore mine in Jangkat village, Ulu Rawas subdistrict in the company of Musi Rawas Regent Ridwan Mukti.


In the meantime, head of the Musi Rawas mining agency Aidil Rusman said the visit of the prospective mining investors to the region reflected the region`s seriousness in seeking potential investors with an interest in investing in Musi Rawas regency.


They are also taking iron ore samples for further examination. It was hoped that the examination of the iron ore samples brings results in the next few months.


Musi Rawas Regent Ridwan Mukti on the occasion said that if the iron ore in the region is good, a iron and steel plant may be built in Musi Rawas, opening up employment opportunities and producing an income for the area.


The regencial administration had also prepared three guidelines for the Chinese investors, including on sharing of the management of mining products at the location or at other places, in addition to a progressive policy for the Musi Rawas regencial administration to facilitate licensing and regulations, and last but not least a prospective investor needs to abide by the existing regulations and respect local values.(*)
